Sisterhood News
I am sure you all enjoyed our Sisterhood
Service on January 27 . Many thanks to Joyce
Bivone and Audrey Rosenblatt for chairing the
event. A special note of gratitude to Cantor
Josephson for providing lovely musicality to the
evening's prayers. The delicious "Sundaes on Friday" was a
wonderful treat, ending the night on a sweet note. Our
appreciation to all of you who participated both in word and
deed as we celebrated the theme, "In Praise of Women."
Book Club was held on January 19 . This selection was
"The Art of Raising in the Rain." It proved to be a fan favorite.
Be sure to follow the bulletin and your Book Club e-mail as we
will soon be posting the group's next choice. Try and join us.
It truly makes for a fun relaxing "Night Out."
Look for your Mishloach Bag forms in this Bulletin. This
Purim activity is Sisterhood's primary fund-raiser this year. It
is a lovely way to acknowledge your friends, neighbors and
children's teachers as well as anyone else that you might care
to send a tasty seasonal "hello." The goody bags will be
distributed on March 4th.
Speaking of March 4th, please get ready for a terrific,
fun-packed Sisterhood Breakfast. It will be pleasing to both
your taste buds as well as your brain cells. Yes, 2, 2, 2 treats
in one!!!! Save the date, circle it on your calendar, write it in
your iPhone....MARCH 4th.
Sisterhood will be sponsoring many special events this
upcoming spring. We will enjoy a Lower East Side Walking
tour of NYC on April 22 . It will be good exercise and most
educational. Bring your family and friends. Back by popular
demand, it appears we will also offer Mah Jongg lessons at the
Temple. Instructions will be held on Sunday afternoons in
March or April. Stay tuned for more information as to dates.
Oh my goodness! So much fun to be had! Be part of the
action and join us at our next Board Meeting which will be on
February 1 at TAS, 7:30 PM. We are waiting for YOU!!!!

March, March 17 to be exact. Don’t miss this opportunity to
see some of the greatest comedians to ever grace our stage. See
the flyer in this bulletin for details. There is still time to get
discounted tickets. Don’t wait too long! Your spouse will be
annoyed if you have to pay full price when your friends got a
bargain. Keep him/her happy and order your tickets early.
We have 3 fabulous comedians this year, with appearances
on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, The Late Show with David
Letterman, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, Late
Night with Conan O'Brien, Comedy Central’s Tough
Crowd with Colin Quinn, and NBC’s Friday Night, as well
as appearing at most of the major comedy clubs in the city. It
will be a show to remember.
But, FIRST, there’s the 18th yearly edition of JEWPARDY
on January 29. Hosted as always by Jerry Trebeck-
Markowitz, it’s always lots of fun. If you haven’t made it to
JEWPARDY before, shame on you. What’s wrong with you?
Show up on the 29 and all will be forgiven (and you’ll get a
good breakfast).
Then, come join us for one of our monthly card nights –
Monday, February 6 or Monday, March 5 in the Youth
Lounge. Whether you play poker or just want to kibitz, the
doors open at 8 p.m.
On March 3, the annual Brotherhood Passover Wine
Sale begins. Watch for the list of wines available this year.
And in case you were not aware of it, if you are looking for
something not on this year's list, we can most likely order it for
you. Just ask.
And of course on March 17 , we will have Comedy
Night. Or did we already mention that?
Lastly, in case you forgot already, COMEDY NIGHT is
March 17 !! Order your tickets now!!

Youth Group
The Youth Group has been busy these past few
weeks. NFTY Homecoming was on November 26th in Edison.
There was a Havdallah service before the dance. The
teens partied the night away while dressed as cavemen and
women.
On December 2nd, SHATY had its second monthly
dinner. The teens ate with the congregation, and then
played some games of Pictionary and Charades to end the
night. Our next Shabbat Dinner and event is January 6th
at 6:30 pm. This time SHATY will be having a taste of
Israeli foods.
Also, some of the teens will be attending
NFTY's Winter Kallah. The retreat is from Monday to
Thursday, from December 26 to 29, and will take place at
Camp Harlam.
Please contact Marla Compa for any information
about Youth Group.
