Religious School

Temple Avodat Shalom provides religious education for approximately 250 students from Kindergarten through 7th Grade with a dedicated staff of teachers under our Educational Director.

Children in Grades K-2 attend class on Sunday mornings, learning about Jewish holidays, Bible and values through stories, crafts and music, and holiday celebrations. Non-members may send their children to these classes.

Children in Grades 3-7 attend class on Sunday mornings and an additional weekday afternoon. Additional areas of study include reading Hebrew, life cycle events, ethics and values, Jewish history, Israel, and preparation for Bar and Bat Mitzvah.

All students lead at least one Friday evening family service and Grades 5-7 each lead a Sabbath morning service and Shabbaton. All grades have activities for parent/family participation. Family education involvement is an important component of our Religious School.

Temple Avodat Shalom also offers an informal after-school program on Sundays, bringing together children in the same grade for social activities. This Chaverim program meets 3 times a year for each grade.
